The director of the Institute for Public Health of Montenegro (IJZCG) Igor Galić announced today that the number of new cases (of the coronavirus) in the last two weeks has decreased by about 54% compared to the previous two weeks.
"Regardless of this data, the daily level of morbidity is still high, so there should be no relaxation. Montenegro continues to conduct the highest number of tests in the region per 1000 inhabitants, which indicates good surveillance of the pandemic. When we compare the data in the last seven days on the number of new cases per million inhabitants, Montenegro is behind most of the developed countries of Europe, such as Denmark, Iceland, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Great Britain, France, Germany, Croatia and others," Galić pointed out at a press conference where the current epidemiological situation in Montenegro is presented.
He added that "only by complying with the measures with adequately implemented immunization can we influence the reduction of the mortality rate".
"Unfortunately, over 80 percent of the patients who lost the battle with this disease were unvaccinated, while in the last five days only one of all the people who died was vaccinated. Because of the above, we once again appeal to the citizens to get vaccinated if they have not done so , or if six months have passed since the last dose of the vaccine to receive the third booster dose," said Galić.
He said that the IJZCG will, as before, monitor the epidemiological situation and propose new measures in accordance with the received data.
Director of the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG), Ljiljana Radulović, said that there are currently 182 patients undergoing hospital treatment in Montenegro, which is 30 percent less than two weeks ago.
"In KCCG, where the most serious patients from the whole country are located, 53 COVID patients are being treated. 20 of them are life-threatening. All but one have significant previous illnesses and all but one are unvaccinated or more than six months have passed from the second dose of the vaccine. Only one of them is younger than 40 years old. Two patients are in the age group of 65 to 70 years, and the rest are older," Radulović pointed out.
She added that there are 25 patients being treated in the other hospitals: OB Bar 34 patients, OB Pljevlja 21 patients, OB Berane 12 patients, OB Kotor 22 patients, OB Nikšić XNUMX patients, SB Brezovik XNUMX patients.
"Out of the total number of hospitalized patients in our country, there are 16 patients on non-invasive and mechanical ventilation, which is less than 10 percent," said Radulović.
