The Mimosa Festival tourist event was opened in Herceg Novi.
The opening was preceded by a parade of City Music Herceg Novi, Local Music Đenović, majorettes, trombonists and clowns from Igalo to Nikola Đurković Square, Mediabiro reports.
The Mimosa Festival was opened by the President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, Stevan Katic, who said that this manifestation has maintained continuity over the past year, preserving the authenticity and connection that has lasted for five decades.
"Last year we planted mimosa, so that this February we would harvest it again with you, celebrating friendship, love and beauty. Mimosa defeated the pandemic," Katic said.
He added that, although the epidemiological situation was uncertain, they planned the Mimosa Festival with optimism, which turned out to be a good decision.
More than 40 programs have been prepared that will last until mid-March.
"Ahead of us is a month of fun, dancing and socializing with friends from the region and Europe. During the Mimosa Festival, Herceg Novi will be the center of the good energy of the region. Welcome to the biggest festival in Novi," said Katic.
The Secretary for Culture and Education of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, Ana Zambelić Pistalo, announced that the expectations for the beginning of the Mimosa Festival have been fulfilled.
"There are a lot of visitors, a lot of announcements. We expect a large number of visitors on the Riviera as well. The very beginning of the holiday gives us indications that this festival will be successful," said Pištalo Zambelić.
After the concert of the local band Trio mare, Neda Ukraden performed.
The mimosa festival in Herceg Novi will last until mid-March, and over 40 entertainment, cultural and sports programs have been prepared. The general sponsor of the event is the Municipality, the organizer is the Public Cultural Institution Herceg-fest, and the sponsor is the Tourist Organization of Herceg Novi.
