The owner of the "Animal Shelter and Recovery" Miljan Milicković claims that he has permits to keep wild animals on the property in Blizna.
He reacted to the statements of the Environmental Protection Agency, which, among other things, announced that the property in Blizna is not adequate for keeping animals and that it does not have the necessary permits.
"It is not true that we do not have permits for keeping wild animals that are kept on our property. In addition to permanent permits (not temporary, as they call them in their letter) for keeping animals, we also have a temporary permit for a zoo, issued by the Administration for phytosanitary and veterinary affairs of Montenegro," said Milicković.
He adds that in that state institution they never had "any kind of obstruction, but full support for the humanitarian work we do".
"Attractive animals, such as a kangaroo that was born in Montenegro, and whose parents have been breeding in Montenegro for 20 years, as well as a wolf, which was caught by the hunting inspection (in cooperation with the hunters), in the very center of the capital, and the barn owl, injured in poaching, which was also placed with us by the state inspectors, the animals were properly reported to the Environmental Protection Agency, within the deadline provided by law, but that institution does not accept the origin of those animals. For this reason we still do not have permits to keep them, which does not mean that we should return them to the street, but that we should deal with solving this problem at the state level, because these are not unique cases. Imagine the absurdity, state inspections house animals with us, because they do not have where with them, and the state Agency for Environmental Protection does not recognize their origin".
Miličković adds that in the documentation, among other things, they have the approval of the Environmental Protection Agency to keep animals within the ZOO park or shelter for public display.
"Unfortunately for my country, and then for me, I had to ask for all these permits and consents issued by the Environmental Protection Agency with the help of my lawyer, because in that institution, for the sake of the personal benefit of individuals, all doors are closed for me".
Miličković also states that the area of the property is 150.000 square meters of land on which the facilities are built, according to, as he said, "the European rulebook for keeping and breeding game, which was confirmed by several state commissions that deal with it".
"To be clear, we have excellent cooperation with all state inspections, the Ministry of Agriculture, Asylum na Konik and a perfect team of well-intentioned people from the Administration for Phytosanitary and Veterinary Affairs of Montenegro in order to improve animal welfare conditions in Montenegro. In the EPA response, they vaguely mention support in in the form of projects, as if these projects concern them, and in reality they have absolutely nothing to do with them, but with the Veterinary Administration, which does its part brilliantly, honestly and according to the law", it is stated, among other things, in Milicković's response.
