Even after 29 years, state institutions in Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) have not prosecuted all the instigators and perpetrators of the terrible crime in Štrpci, and the lack of will to find the remains of the victims is particularly worrying, said Admir Adrović, a member of the Executive Board of the Bosniak Council. .
The families of the victims, the ambassador of Palestine in Podgorica, Rabi Rabi Hantouli, representatives of the Bosniak Council, the Council of the Muslim People of Montenegro, political parties, non-governmental organizations, laid flowers at the Memorial Park in Pobrežje, on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the crime at Štrpci station.
Adrović said that the tragic fate of the victims is a drastic testimony of the horrors caused by the brokers of nationalism and large-state projects, but also a warning that the perpetrators and the principals must not go unpunished.
According to him, evil is constantly being vampirized, and facing the past is the first step for a society to overcome the evil within itself, through justice, memory and remorse.
"For the umpteenth time, we call on the Government and the relevant ministries to undertake all activities and measures that can contribute to the establishment of justice - to punish all the perpetrators and perpetrators of crimes, to find the remains of the victims, and to provide permanent social protection to families as civilian victims of war in Montenegro" , said Adrovic.
He said that 29 years ago, on the territory of the then Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, a planned war crime was committed against 20 innocent people, just because of their names, religion and nationality.
Adrović said that since 2015, involuntary and slow court processes have been going on in Belgrade and Sarajevo, where proceedings are being conducted against those accused of committing crimes.
"The state institutions in Serbia, BiH and Montenegro have not prosecuted all the perpetrators and perpetrators of that terrible crime, even after 29 years. The lack of will to find the remains of the victims and thus alleviate the pain of the families is particularly worrying," said Adrović.
He said that the families of the victims are having a hard time surviving and that they are not in a position to follow the trials, nor to have their own representative.
Adrović said that they suspect "that this is also part of the obstruction of justice".
He said that the Bosniak people and all honorable people in Montenegro have no right and cannot forget the victims of the crime against civilians kidnapped from a passenger train at Štrpci station in 1993.
"On the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the kidnapping from train 671 at the Štrpci station and the death of 20 innocent people, the Bosniak Council in Montenegro fully stands in solidarity with the families and relatives of the victims and demands that the obfuscation of judicial responsibility be stopped as soon as possible," said Adrović.
Zoran Vujičić from the Civic Alliance said that the chief special prosecutor should be elected as soon as possible, whose first and basic task will be to solve this and all other crimes.
As he stated, only in this way will the pain of all those whose loved ones perished in the previous period be alleviated.
Vujičić pointed out that none, especially this one, and all other war crimes that happened, should go unpunished.
"Everything that Montenegro did in the previous period, namely sloppy prosecutorial investigations, court proceedings that were conducted in such a way that every verdict would fall, the strategy that was introduced to solve war crimes, was just throwing dust in the eyes Vujičić believes.
Arza Škrijelj, a youth member of the Bosniak Party, said that they had gathered this year to point out the necessity of establishing all the facts, as well as the criminal responsibility of the perpetrators of that terrible act.
She said that it is also necessary to pay due attention to the families of the victims.
"We invite the members of the newly formed Prosecutor's Council to initiate all procedures in order to find the truth", stated Škrijelj.
The representative of the Council of the Muslim People of Montenegro, Kadrija Kurpejović, said that they want to order the competent authorities of the state to implement all measures so that the families get their basic right - to enable them to achieve the status of civilian victims of war.
"The Council of the Muslim People of Montenegro wants to give full support to the victims' families to persevere in exercising their rights by laying wreaths this year," said Kurpejović.
