The President of the Municipality of Bar, Dušan Raičević, signed today the contract on the construction of an asylum for abandoned animals with accompanying infrastructure. The agreed value of the investment is more than 540.000 euros.
"With the construction of the shelter, the Municipality of Bar will get a unique and most modern center of its kind in the country and permanently solve the big challenge with abandoned animals, especially stray dogs in Bar," the local self-government announced.
The contractor selected at the public tender is the company "Kalamper" from Bar, and the deadline for the execution of the works is 150 days from the date of the contractor's introduction to the work.
The asylum will be located at the Kufin location on an area of about 6.000 square meters, of which 2.500 square meters have been used, while the remaining area will remain untouched nature and the surroundings of the asylum itself will be additionally greened with new seedlings, the Municipality points out.
The shelter will have from 75 to 100 places, group and isolated housing for animals, a clinic, a kitchen, a burial pit, as well as an open atrium in the center that will be used for receiving and socializing with animals and educating visitors who can adopt animals.
