The Dutchman's dog Robin van Gameren, who lives in Lipovska Bistrica near Kolašin, was poisoned on Thursday. The dog, which died in the Kolašin veterinary office on Thursday as a result of poisoning, is the third that the family has lost, in the same way since they came to Kolašin.
As the owner told the "News", the dog was on the family property, a few hundred meters from the houses.
Van Gameren has been with his family in Kolašin for three years. They came from Rotterdam, and in the village of Kolašin they started a family business and claimed to have found everything they needed.
"I can't believe this is happening again. Who was bothered by the dog on our property. Unfortunately, the veterinarian could not do anything and the animal died in great agony," Van Gameren said.
He explains that he reported the case to the police.
Poisoning of dogs and cats is not uncommon in Kolašin. Šarplaninka and the Asian of the family Vukajlović they were poisoned in April last year in the yard of their family home in Smailagića Polje. Vukajlovići found one dead dog on the lawn right next to the front door, and the other in the box. Around them was a bluish substance that they suspected was poison.
They also reported the case to the police, and they hoped for a reaction from the prosecutor's office.
The perpetrators of dog poisoning in Kolašin have, until now, mostly remained undetected. Often, due to expensive analyses, the type of poison used to kill the animals is not even discovered. Even animals housed in a temporary private shelter were poisoned and killed.
The owner of that shelter Danijela Vuksanović she said yesterday that she is horrified by everything that is happening and that finally "the institutions of the system should get serious and fulfill their obligations prescribed by law".
"It is incredible that we are sending such a picture about Kolašin and the people of Kolašin. The Dutch took all the dogs from the shelter, wanting to take care of them in the best way. This is a family that came to Montenegro because they saw the future in Kolašin. They help abandoned animals, they are useful to the city and fellow citizens, because they started their business here. All three of their dogs were poisoned. It is finally time for the justice system, in cooperation with the police, to send a clear message with its activities that this is a crime and that animal killers cannot remain undetected and unpunished," Vuksanović said.
She reminded of the numerous cases of poisoning, some of the owner's, some of the abandoned animals, which happened in Kolašin during the past years, as well as the fact that, she claims, "there was no adequate reaction of the system".
