The rehabilitation of part of the southern rampart of the Old Town in Ulcinj, which collapsed at the beginning of January last year due to heavy rains and long-term, uncontrolled dumping of rubble and materials, should start soon.
This was confirmed to "News" by the Secretary for Communal Services, Adnan Alibegu, stating that the necessary funds have already been provided and that the necessary written consent has been obtained from the company "SJ Property" for the use of part of their plot within the old city walls for the purpose of carrying out works.
"All prerequisites for the repair of the wall have been created and the work should start as soon as possible in order to avoid major damage," Alibegu said.
In the letter to "SJ Property", requesting consent, he stated that the Municipality, in cooperation with the Institute of Cultural Monuments, intends to rehabilitate part of the southern rampart of the Old Town, which was largely damaged due to force majeure.
"The dumping of excavated rubble next to the ramparts from the place where a building owned by you was illegally built about fifteen years ago also contributed to this. We emphasize that the mentioned part of the rampart is threatened with even greater damage if remedial measures are not taken soon, and considering the position of the plot, there may also be a landslide," said Alibegu.
The company "SJ Property", which bought the building a couple of years ago and inherited the problems regarding exceeding the dimensions, promptly replied that they are happy to give their consent.
"The company allows the contractor to use a part of the cadastral plot in question and cross over it exclusively for the purpose of carrying out works on the rehabilitation of the southern rampart of the Old Town of Ulcinj. The contractor is obliged to refrain from any actions that may cause damage to the plot or the building located on it," the submitted consent reads.
It is added that after the completion of the works, the contractor is obliged to return the plot to its previous state, i.e. to the state in which it was found at the time when it started the activities.
"The obligation to return to the previous state does not apply to those parts of the plot that were possibly damaged due to the collapse of part of the rampart," the letter to Alibegu says.
