The non-governmental organization (NGO) Euromost announced today that animal blood was released into the river Lim.
They added that the veterinary inspector is not responsible for this, even though, as they said, it was released from a slaughterhouse for the mass slaughter of cattle that does not have any license.
"The NGO Euromost received a report from the citizens that animal blood was being discharged into the river Lim in the town of Loznice, which is 500 meters from the center of Bijelo Polje. After we immediately informed the water inspector, we went to the spot with him and identified the potential polluter , we also filmed the canal where the animal blood was released. We received information from the water inspector Dragan Šekularac after his inspection that the animal blood was released by the person of Šela Međedović, who is known to be engaged in mass slaughter of livestock for other meat processors and that she was immediately controlled", the statement of Euromost points out.
The NGO said that it was interesting that the water inspector immediately informed the veterinary inspector Saša Đurović about the case, who told him that it was not within his competence, even though Međedović does not have any permission to work in a place that is 500 meters from the center. of the city carries out mass slaughter of cattle.
"Međedović only has a contract with local meat processors to slaughter livestock for them, but not at this location, and it is not even known at which location this person can perform mass slaughter. They ask "how is it possible that for years animal waste has been discharged from this location into Lim, that there is a slaughterhouse for mass slaughter without any permit and control, and that it is not the responsibility of the veterinary inspector?"
"In 2018, Water Inspector Dragan Šekularac also filed a criminal complaint with the Bijelo Polje ODT for the same part against Šelo Međedović, as he told us, but even to this day they have not received any notification, whether this prosecutor's office has launched any investigation so far or the procedure and whether they investigated the whole case. Today, the water inspector will file, as he told us, another criminal complaint against ODT Bijelo Polje together with all the evidence that was delivered to him and which he himself collected in the field, in addition to ODT Bijelo Polje, inform the Police Directorate as well," Euromost said in a statement.
The NGO said that they informed the Directorate for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs, the Department for Veterinary Inspection about the whole case and asked them to immediately carry out all controls, make a report, close the slaughterhouse for mass slaughter of livestock and notify all competent authorities. institutions.
"If he continues to work, we will suspect corruption and ask that the SDT of Montenegro be involved in the whole case," concludes the statement of Euromost.
