The non-governmental organization (NGO) Green Home launched an SOS telephone for reporting illegal activities on the upper course of the Zeta River, so that citizens could react at any moment, report illegal activity and contribute to the protection of this river.
The NGO said that in the period from July to January 2022, in the area of the upper course of the Zeta River, they worked with volunteers and partners on mapping the environmental pressures that are present in this area.
They have identified, they say, a large number of illegal landfills in the bed and on the banks of the river, discharges of waste water, exploitation of gravel and sand, as well as many other illegal and undesirable activities that, they believe, can be prevented.
"We will process all applications according to the competent institutions, but also according to the public, in order to contribute to the protection and preservation of this river," explained Green Home.
They invited citizens who notice illegal activities on this river to report them to the SOS number for the Zeta river: +382 67 369 184.
"In the coming months, Green Home will work on the rehabilitation and revitalization of two locations where the presence of illegally dumped waste was recorded. The revitalization plan for the entire area, which includes 18 locations where we recorded environmental pressures and which was prepared on the basis of the collected information, will be offered to the competent institutions on implementation," the announcement states.
