Dom zdravlja Podgorica marked the Day of the fight against alcoholism - April 1, under the slogan "Be smart, be sober".
As announced by the Podgorica Health Center, the goal of celebrating this date is to draw attention to the harmful effects of alcohol on the body, the danger of alcohol addiction and the causes that lead to such conditions.
This health institution announced that on April 4 and 5, you can get psychosocial support at the Podgorica Mental Health Center without an appointment or waiting.
A psychologist at the Health Center, Anđela Golubović, said that at the beginning, alcohol is used in smaller quantities, but with the passage of time, psychological and physical dependence and increased tolerance to alcohol occurs.
He also states that the family often comes forward in the advanced stages of the disease, when the person has serious character, health, social and family problems.
The Health Center warns that alcohol leads to consequences on the psychological and physical level, and that on the psychological level it leads to changes in character and personality.
"The treatment of alcoholics itself is a complex and long-term process, in which all family members must be involved. What is well known to psychiatrists and psychologists, but may be unknown to laymen, is that the patient must first be motivated for treatment, and social support and the help of the family is crucial. In the end, we must not forget and warn the public about the social consequences of alcoholism, such as traffic accidents, which are caused by drunk drivers in approximately 20 percent of situations," the announcement states, among other things.
