Vaso Terić from Nikšić turns 24 on April 70, and as things stand now, he could celebrate his birthday on the street, without a roof over his head. Today, his neighbors prevented the forced eviction of Terić from the shack in "Vuka Mićunovića" Street, in the Rastoci neighborhood, and the bailiff, with the help of the police and representatives of the company that bought the land on which the shacks are located, where 11 families live, will try to do so. to do tomorrow.
These are former workers of the construction company Prvoborac who have been living in temporary buildings since 1994, and who recently received eviction notices, because since August 31, 2020, the owner of the land is the company "Sab sekjuriti" from Herceg Novi. According to the residents of the barracks, the mentioned company bought the land of almost six thousand square meters for 190.000 euros, and last year it concluded a preliminary sales contract with the company Agrologistika.
"I moved there out of necessity. When the company went bankrupt, I lost my income, and I had 15 years of work. I became a social case. In August of last year, I received an order that they wanted to throw me out on the street. They came three times and I gave up. I said that they throw things out and me with things. Life is not worth five cents to me anymore. I gave up on my health because of this. Should I live, on the street or not live at all? It's better not to live at all. Here, I'm beautiful they prepared a birthday card," said Terić, while the neighbors, who are awaiting the same fate, said that they had initiated court proceedings because of the aforementioned situation.
Terić, as they said, unfortunately did not have the means to initiate an appeal.
"Can this country understand that someone doesn't have bread to eat, and not to complain. In a legal country, a social case moves somewhere, not moves out," complained Terić's neighbor, visibly outraged.
The families moved into the temporary facilities on the basis of a verbal agreement with the management of Prvoborec, which was declared bankrupt not long after. The barracks, which served as dormitories for the workers from Kosovo, were in extremely bad condition, so the tenants had to invest money to make them more tidy.
"It was almost in ruins, it leaked, there was moisture. Everything there was unconditional. We covered the outside and inside, renovated, did everything so that we could live there and bring our children in. Everything we earned is here We have invested in it for almost 30 years," said Veliša Zorić.
According to him, in 2000, they came from the Municipality to survey the land, but the president at the time told them that the barracks would not be demolished for the time being, and that if that happened by chance, they would be provided with housing.
"We left our lives and the money we earned here, made some decent living conditions and probably acquired the right to stay there. Two months ago, when we received a lawsuit that the land and buildings on it had been sold, we found out that there was a possibility to evict us. No one offered to buy this for us, because if they did, maybe we could have taken out loans, children to help us, and not be left without a roof over our heads," said Zorić.
Drago Davidović, who is 76 years old, said that he does not know how he will be able to provide a roof over his head for himself and his daughter from the pension amounting to 150 euros. Even Zoran Tadić, a single father of three minor children, who is without permanent employment, does not know that.
"The father worked in Pvoborac for 25 years and he received nothing from the company except the promise that a residential building would be built here and that he would get an apartment in it. That did not happen. I don't know where I will go with the children - we have no other roof than this one." , Tadic said.
His surname, Đorđije Tadić, claims that they repeatedly appealed to Novi Prvoborc, the legal heir of the company that was in bankruptcy, to issue them a decision based on which they could live in temporary buildings, but that they were told that they could not help them because are temporary facilities, and the land belongs to the municipality.
"When we started receiving eviction notices in December of last year, we asked the mayor to receive us three times, but they directed us to the Directorate for Property. There we found out that Novi Prvoborac acquired the right to the property from the right of use. Didn't we and we, after so many years, have acquired the right to property? We hope that the mayor will accept us and not allow us to become social cases, and we have fought all our lives not to be that," said Tadić.
"The Property Directorate told us that we are not the municipality's problem. Montenegro is a relatively small country, and 11 families staying on the street is not the municipality's problem, but the state's problem. We call on the Ministry of Justice to help us solve this problem," she urged. Dragana Davidović.
The residents invited the President of the Municipality, Marko Kovačević, to come and together with them defend their roof over their heads, as well as to help them not to become homeless. The Municipality of Nikšić told journalists that they will not advertise the barracks in Rastoci, because it is private property, and that they will provide all legal assistance to the tenants.
