The Radio and Television Council of Montenegro (RTCG) made a decision not to leave the Media Council for Self-Regulation (MSS), until they investigate what that body did regarding the violation of the professional standards of certain television stations.
Council member Goran Đurović proposed that at today's session, the Public Service should resign from the MSS, because they tolerate Pink M "brutally insulting" RTCG and members of the Council, violating the ethical code of journalists and professional reporting standards.
"I see no reason to give legitimacy to such a constituent in any way," said Đurović.
He said that he is not against media criticism of RTCG and that he encourages such media policy, but that it is done in accordance with professional standards.
The other members of the Council considered that Đurović's proposal was "extreme", and decided to first examine what the RTCG members do in the self-regulatory body and how the MSS reacted to these violations of professional standards.
