On the occasion of Europe Day, the European Union in Montenegro will place a large flower carpet on the square in front of the Castle of King Nikola in Cetinje, which will be ceremonially opened by the Ambassador of the European Union in Montenegro, Oana Kristina Popa, and the Mayor of Cetinje, Nikola Đurašković, on Saturday, May 7.
The 230 square meter carpet will consist of 33.500 locally grown flower seedlings and will decorate the palace square until May 10. After that, all seedlings will be planted in parks and yards of state and local institutions, schools and kindergartens in Cetinje.
This will be one of the activities that the EU Info Center and the Delegation of the European Union in Montenegro will organize during May, which they call the Month of Europe.
"The design of the carpet is inspired by the motifs of flowers on the parquet in the castle itself, which unites Montenegrin and European Union traditions. Namely, every other year a similar floral carpet of larger dimensions adorns the main city square in Brussels," the EU Info Center announced.
