Lawyer Velija Murić asked the Prime Minister Dritan Abazović to once again consider the possibility of out-of-court compensation for damaged families and those injured during the NATO bombing of the town of Murino.
Velić stated in the request that he is the legal representative of six families from which one member was killed in the shelling of the town and two persons who suffered physical injuries.
"We will agree that these were not ordinary deaths, but suffering because of the state and for the state, above all because of the state policy pursued at that time," wrote Murić.
He reminded that so far he has not received an answer to any request, "probably due to waiting for court justice".
"Certainly, I will also agree to court justice, although in this case I perceive it to be extremely one-sided. Neither she nor anything else can replace the justice that every citizen of the state has from her and from her level. Judicial justice is available to everyone, including the living because of Murin's victims. On the other hand, should Murin's victims be forced to seek justice with lawsuits..." Murić asked.
He stated that he had previously filed a lawsuit on behalf of the injured families with the competent court for the compensation of the damages due to them. He claims that the courts often made significantly different decisions - some claims were accepted, others were rejected as unfounded...
"Obviously, the higher court instances did not accept the so-called privileged statute of limitations based on the statute of limitations of the criminal event, which in this case it is without a doubt," claims Murić.
He reminded that in the whole case there is a final judgment in favor of one family, which was paid a certain amount of money in the name of mental pain.
"In further proceedings, the Supreme Court overturned that verdict, so for a long time now attempts have been made to implement counter-execution, that is, the state demands that the family return the money received," said Murić.
