The delegation of the Bosniak Council of Montenegro (BVCG) - Mirsad Rastoder, Sead Šahman, Majida Kurtagić, Bejto Šahmanović and Adnan Pepić - laid flowers this morning at the monument to the Partisan fighter in Gorica, as a sign of memory and respect for the heroes of anti-fascism, announced the Technical Service of the BVCG.
"We congratulate the Day of Victory over Fascism and the Day of Europe, with the hope that, as fellow citizens and people, respecting all differences, we will be even more aware of the common human obligation to work together for the betterment of our country and thus of humanity," the announcement states.
As they pointed out, May 9 is a symbol of the heroism and unity of the people who defended the world from fascism and a day when we remember with special piety all those who gave their lives to defend humanity and basic civilizational values.
"Precisely on May 9, 1945, Nazi Germany signed the capitulation in the Second World War and that is the reason why that date is celebrated as Victory Day. Unfortunately, even though it was defeated militarily by that act, fascism was not eradicated. It is renewed through populism, nationalism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, unlimited power and with the militarization of society, and any resistance to these ideas is, in fact, anti-fascism. Therefore, respecting all the heroes of ani-fascism, such as Rifat Burdžović Trš, Vladimir Knežević Volođa and Tomas Žižić, whose bones were found in the Grujića pit near Trnovo and subsequently stored in the memorial complex in Gorica in 1957, we are obliged to defend the ideas and achievements of anti-fascism, which include peace, freedom, justice and equality among people, even today," they added.
The Bosnian people, they say, remember well the suffering in the Second World War as well as in the early nineties of the last century, and with a lot of compassion, understanding and solidarity they support the Ukrainian people in their defense against aggression.
"On behalf of the Bosniak people, we appeal to European and world leaders and statesmen to stop the war as soon as possible in the heart of today's European Union, the community of European states and peoples to which Montenegro also belongs and whose full membership it aspires to," they said.
They reminded that May 9th is also Europe Day, which is celebrated in memory of May 9th, 1950, when Robert Schumann, Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, presented a proposal for the creation of a new Europe, i.e. the European Coal and Steel Community, with with the aim of joint action and strengthening of European industry. This proposal, better known as the "Schumann Declaration", is considered the beginning of what is now known as the European Union.
"Dear citizens of Montenegro in the homeland and in the diaspora, on behalf of the Bosniak Council and personally, we congratulate you on May 9 - the Day of Victory over Fascism and the Day of Europe with the desire to unite and strengthen the civilizational values of anti-fascism and the European Union as an asset of the European nations to which we ourselves belong." , the announcement concludes.
