Dual education, i.e. parallel study and work with an employer for students of the third degree, where the student also receives a monthly allowance, came to life in Montenegro after a decade.
As announced by the Ministry of Education, almost 300 students from 97 employers will be educated under this system starting this school year.
"The given data means that currently 40 percent of the total number of children who are in the third level are educated in a dual form, which means that students in the first year of the five working days a week spend one day with the employer, in the second year two days and in the third year three days with the employer, and they receive compensation for that," the Ministry of Education announced.
Presenting data related to dual education, Minister of Education Damir Šehović said that 17 schools from 12 Montenegrin municipalities are participating in this type of education this year, with 14 educational programs, i.e. majors, and that it is almost certain that these students will start a working relationship after finishing school, because they will have practical knowledge shaped according to the needs of the market and employers.
"Educational programs in dual education are cook, waiter, car mechanic, hairdresser, welder, installer of sanitary devices, heating and air conditioning, electrician, baker, salesman, fitter of telecommunication systems, confectioner, locksmith, auto electrician and precious metal worker. Through practical education, students do not they only develop manual skills, but acquire the ability to work in a team, to cope with new and unknown situations, the ability to solve problems," Šehović said.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce, Velimir Mijušković, said that the right solution is one in which employers participate in the training of staff, and that the fact that for the first time in dual education, such a large number of renowned employers who have enviable capacities, and who are not bound only for services, but also other activities such as the food industry or wood processing.
Dual education is implemented in such a way that the Vocational Education Center controls the material, technical and personnel requirements that must be met by the employer in order to be able to educate a student. Then the student signs an individual contract with the employer. A working body was formed to monitor the implementation.
"Countries that implement practical education in cooperation with employers, such as Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Denmark, record a low level of general unemployment and youth unemployment," concludes the statement of the Ministry of Education.
