TV Vijesti celebrates its 14th birthday: Professionalism to truth and trust

At a time when there are more and more media, fewer and fewer professional journalists, and facts are the subject of the worst abuses every day, Television News is recognized both domestically and regionally as the most trusted media in Montenegro.

That's it, says the chief and responsible editor of TV Vijesti Tatiana Ashanin, after 14 years since the establishment of the television and almost seven since he was at the head of the newsroom, "the greatest satisfaction for a newsroom that does not even count 25 journalists and approximately the same number of production employees".

"Today, 14 years after the first broadcast of the morning news, the first morning program 'Colors of the morning', the first 'News at half past seven', apart from endless pride for all the results achieved - I also feel honored to be a part of such a successful team. Despite all the obstacles of the institutions that we also went through the impossibility of getting a national frequency for the first two and a half years, 'sanctions' and financial blows - we managed to become the first and remain the most watched TV with the greatest trust. However, even today when we celebrate, I must remind you that the Montenegrin media market is destroyed." , said the executive director of TV Vijesti Marijana Kadić Bojanić.

Ašanin believes that TV Vijesti "exactly because we worked in the best interest of the public, has become the longest-running Montenegrin private television, to which the citizens, in addition to trust, also gave their full attention."

"That's why our most recognizable formats are the most watched, although today it is difficult to compete with banal and primitive content that contaminates the public space and degrades both the profession and the person, but unfortunately they have their own audience," points out Ašanin.

TV Vijesti journalists, she emphasizes, are known for always asking questions, for not belonging to anyone, and for setting standards.

"...Which will serve as good examples in business for some future, I believe, happier generations of journalists," said Ašanin.

He reminds us that "all the time, nothing went our way - neither the fact that we often lacked money, nor the fact that we worked in conditions of unfair competition, nor the fact that we were boycotted and are being boycotted by key political subjects, not a small number of colleagues ' used almost every opportunity to trip us up".

"That's why many didn't last, because in the newsroom of TV Vijesti, journalism is a living, even though you probably live more comfortably and with fewer headaches than some other jobs," says Ašanin.

Jubilee 15th birthday, adds the chief and responsible editor, TV Vijesti "is waiting with faith for better days to come".

"...That we will improve our technical and personnel skills and that the state will finally adopt and start applying laws that will recognize professional media and make their work easier", concluded Ašanin.

Kadić Bojanić points out that the task before the current institutions is to organize the legislation and enable professional media to develop sustainably.

"We will, as before, try to be professional in reporting and offer the best possible program.
