We are determined to ensure progress in European integration in the field of environmental protection, in this regard we will pay special and due attention to the Ulcinj Solana and protected areas within the Natura 2000 concept", said the Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism Ana Novaković Đurović at a meeting with Robert Weber, the ambassador of Germany in Montenegro, noting that in that process he expects the cooperation of NGOs and the civil sector.

As stated in the announcement of the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism, Novaković Đurović thanked Weber for the continuous support of Germany in the process of meeting the criteria from Chapter 27.

"Knowledge and experience of German experts are of key importance. I would like to remind you that the German expert provides support to the Municipality of Ulcinj and the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism in defining the optimal management model for the Ulcinj Salt Lake Nature Park and the implementation of protection measures for this area, but also that we have continuous expert support within the Natura 2000 concept," Novaković Đurović added.

She reportedly told Weber that he can expect openness and transparency in cooperation, with which the German ambassador agreed, noting that Germany will continue to provide continuous support at the expert and technical level.

He also announced that Germany is ready to provide Montenegro with additional financial support for the implementation of projects that would contribute to the protection and preservation of the environment, and thus to the fulfillment of the criteria from the very demanding Chapter 27.

Energy efficiency topics were also discussed at the meeting, the statement added.

As stated, the meeting was attended by Ljubiša Pavićević, Acting Director General of the Directorate for EU Integration, International Cooperation and Climate Change and Kristof Brojnih, Deputy Head of Mission.
