"It is truly incredible that the Minister of Economic Development and Tourism, Goran Đurović, whose job it is to do everything to ensure that this tourist season goes well, is spreading a negative image of Budva and Montenegro through the Twitter social network, driving away and dissuading tourists with his thoughtless actions." it is stated in the reaction of the Municipality of Budva.
As it is emphasized, they consider it frivolous that "he found out about the alleged sewage overflow problem in Petrovac through his Twitter status and joined the discussion, sending messages that if the municipality cannot react, the state will."
"It would have been elementary decency if the minister had first checked the information he had read and acted institutionally, i.e. called the telephone of the mayor of the municipality or the competent service. Instead, this instant minister who wants to leave the impression of a modern and enterprising super minister with his sleeves rolled up, help offers a tweeter and "threatens" to solve the sewage problem instead of the Municipality of Budva. For the sake of informing the public in a timely manner, we would like to point out that this is a late reaction because the problem with the pumping station in Petrovac was already solved three days ago, and that today is during the day the pump overheated and stopped working. For this reason, the "Vodovod i kanalizacija" d.o.o. Budva team is already on the ground and is replacing the pump, which will be completed in a very short time," states the response of the Municipality of Budva.
They add that it is "an inherited problem from the previous government".
"Because in addition to everything he managed to alienate, due to the need for a private hotel, the DPS relocated or alienated the pumping station to another location and thereby destroyed the network. Despite everything, it is clear that the Municipality of Budva fully controls the situation on the ground. And when the minister called for help, this is an excellent opportunity to test his readiness and publicly invite him to urgently implement the budgetary obligation to allocate 1,5 million euros for the rehabilitation of the wastewater plant in Budva", the statement of the Municipality of Budva points out.
They reminded that it is about the accepted amendments of Democratic Front MP Milo Božović, which were adopted in the Assembly.
"And we expect the minister to immediately start the process of calling for tenders or transferring these funds to the municipality, which will do it itself. The minister does not seem to understand how sensitive tourism is and whether he is spreading negative propaganda due to inexperience and ignorance, or out of bad intentions against our city. It is incomprehensible that at the moment when we have paid articles in the regional media that sharks have appeared in Budva, that we are threatened by an earthquake, various cataclysms, etc. by the most responsible person for tourism in Montenegro, we receive flat and unverified evaluations on social media networks. We want to believe that it is not a matter of synchronized action with some travel agencies that want to sell the tourist product of Turkey and Greece and divert guests there, but that it is a question of ignorance and rashness that are a tribute to inexperience in performing state and responsible affairs. We expect an apology for all of this and that this unpleasant event will not be repeated, because from this moment the minister has taken responsibility that if he does not urgently start the procedure for the rehabilitation of the sewerage network according to the budget, he will personally bear the blame for any malfunctions in the sewerage network in Budva," the statement concludes. .
