On the site of Patkova otok in the Loznice settlement in Bijelo Polje, in honor of celebrating the Independence Day, a sports and recreational zone was officially opened today, consisting of sports fields for indoor soccer, an outdoor gym and a children's playground with props.
A member of the Local Community of Loznica, Muzafer Badžić, and a successful young karate player, Zerina Ličina, took part in cutting the ribbon next to him.
Until recently, this location was turned into a construction and communal waste dump, and already on the first days, especially in the afternoon, a large number of children from Loznice, Rasovo, but also Prussia and the whole city gather.
Opening the sports-recreational zone, which is the first phase of the future sports-recreational center, the President of the Municipality, Petar Smolović, said that Bjelopoljci and Bjeloljka have been waiting for many years for such facilities.
"We managed to design, complete the tender and complete the first phase of the works in a short time, which includes a soccer field, a playground and an open-air gym, with a water fountain, lighting and furniture," said Smolović. As the site is unfenced, the president emphasized, the first works these days will be focused on building a fence to Lim, so that everyone, especially small children, can stay outdoors safely.
"In the second phase, which starts immediately, three 400-meter-long tracks will be built, and two more courts, a basketball court and a beach volleyball court, with additional facilities, greening of the area and the construction of a park," said Smolović.
The president believes that this zone, from a former waste dump, will become the most beautiful central green zone of the city, which will be used by the entire city, for the benefit of children, young and old.
The works, which started fifteen days ago, were completed ahead of schedule, on June 1.
