The Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism, Ana Novaković Đurović, today signed the Consent to the Proposed Decision on the Proclamation of the Gorica Forest Park Nature Monument.
According to her department, Novaković Đurović stated that the hill of Gorica deserves to be a protected area.
"We have to change our attitude towards natural resources. Protection should not follow after an area has been affected by illegal construction, devastation or other problems," Novaković Đurović said.
According to Novaković Đurović, the essence is prevention, that is, declaring protected areas while they are still intact and at their full potential.
She stated that the intention of the Ministry is for Montenegro to get more protected natural resources, adding that intensive work is being done on this.
"Soon we will get new protected areas in the north and south," announced Novaković Đurović.
The Ministry said that, in accordance with the ecological requirements of species and habitats important for protection, the area of Gorica corresponds to category V of protected natural assets.
"These are areas where the long-term interaction of man and nature has produced recognizable and significant ecological, biological, cultural and aesthetic values and where the preservation of the integrity of that relationship is necessary in order to protect and maintain that area, preserve nature and other values," it says. in the statement.
As it is added, the Ministry, after reviewing and analyzing the Protection Study and the submitted Decision Proposal, issued an opinion with certain comments and suggestions.
"After the correction of the Study by the expert team, as well as the Proposal of the Decision by the Secretariat for Spatial Planning and Sustainable Development in accordance with the suggestions of the Ministry, the conditions have been met to issue consent to the act in question," said the Ministry.
