Members of the Podgorica Protection and Rescue Service are ready to welcome the fire season, both in terms of material and technical resources, as well as in the number of firefighters, the PG Bureau announced.
The Commander of the Protection Service, Goran Janković, pointed out that this summer, in addition to the regular composition of their members, there are also people who will also cover a certain part of the territory of the capital during the summer season.
"What's really good is that in preparation for the fire season, we did a great job when it comes to the hydrant network, public companies and specifically when it comes to cleaning the Gorica hill. The members, in cooperation with other city services, did a complete cleaning, removing residual plant material that died in last year's fire. What is new in the work of the service is that we will very soon receive the most modern and state-of-the-art equipment when it comes to personal protective equipment, i.e. firefighting suits," said Jankovć and announced that this service will soon receive another vehicle.
He pointed out that they expect the arrival of a vehicle for quick interventions, which, he said, will be used for technical interventions and for traffic accidents.
"In addition to these vehicles, we also procured certain equipment related to fire protection, so I can truly say that we welcome this season ready and that, as in the previous period, we will give our maximum, all with the aim of preserving, first of all, public areas and all those natural assets that are located on the territory of Podgorica," said Janković.
The PG Bureau reminded that the fire season in Podgorica usually begins in mid-June and the first long dry periods, and that the Protection and Rescue Service "has the largest number of vehicles since its establishment", and emphasized that it is necessary for citizens to show maximum responsibility in the coming months .
