Vojinović: Construction of the new building of Vladimir Nazor elementary school in September

Minister of Education Miomir Vojinović said that if everything goes as planned, I expect the construction of the new building of the Vladimir Nazor elementary school to begin in September.

He said this in front of several dozen parents and children attending that school, who gathered today in front of the Government of Montenegro building on the occasion of the still unbuilt school.

The gathered children shouted "We want a school" at the beginning of the protest in front of the Government, but also when they entered the Government premises.

In addition to Vojinović, Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, Minister of Culture and Media Maša Vlaović, Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanović, Minister of Agriculture and Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Joković and Minister of Sports and Youth Vasilije Lalošević attended the protest.

Abazović: You will get the school as soon as possible

During his address, the Prime Minister expressed his "great satisfaction" that they came to the Government of Montenegro, and said that "this is your house" and that he is "very proud" of them.

"I would like all children with the same zeal to ask for a school to be built for them because they know that school is something that is a great support for their future development," he said.

He told those gathered that "they will get the school as soon as possible", but that they must be aware that regardless of their desire to get the school immediately, "it still takes some time to build it".

"The most important thing for us is that you are safe, and we must not let you into buildings that are unsafe. This is the reason why, after so many years, it unfortunately had to be demolished, and we will do everything in our power to get a new, bigger school as soon as possible and more comfortable. I hope we will get understanding from your principal, teacher," said Abazović.

The Prime Minister explained that "just as a house is built, there is a period to build a building".

"This also takes some time. We are trying to secure the funds, there will be no problem with financing, just to complete the procedures so that it can be formally done," said Abazović.

Vojinović: We followed the path of promises that were not possible and realistic at that moment

The Minister of Education, Miomir Vojinović, said that fully sharing Abazović's position that children should and must have school, "the only thing I can say is that I regret that it failed in the previous 18 months, in the way that the promises made in at that moment they were not possible and realistic and within the law".

Vojinović also said that he had a couple of meetings with the director and president of the parents.

"We have entered the process of obtaining all possible permits, the money is not a problem, it will be provided by the bank," said Vojinovićl.

If everything goes as planned, he said he expects to start construction of the new building in September

"Another school is being built in Tološi, next week I have a conversation with the mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković, so that they can consider a way to finish that building as soon as possible, and 80 percent is already built," he said.

He also adds that "Bemax made a donation of seven million euros as a gift to the children of that school" and that he will go to visit those works with their representatives on Monday.

He assures those gathered that this government will do everything to start building the school as soon as possible.

Vladimir Nazor Elementary School was closed in April, and experts from the Faculty of Civil Engineering assessed then that the building did not meet the necessary safety standards.

In February of this year, the director of that institution, Ljiljana Krunić Marković, said that students and teachers should attend classes in the new school building as early as March next year.
