The new floating dock purchased in Turkey by the company Adriatic 42 from Tivat for the needs of its new overhaul center for mega and superyachts in Bijela, sailed into Boka Kotorska this morning.

The dock arrived after a ten-day journey from Turkey, from the Hat-San Shipyard in Yalova where the dock was built in 2017, and where it has been in use until now. The floating dock, 180 meters long and 37 meters wide, was towed from Turkey to Montenegro by the large Norwegian tugboat "FFS Arion".

The arrival of the dock at the anchorage of the port of Zelenika, where the administrative formalities with the Montenegrin maritime authorities were completed, was greeted by water cannons from tugboats and the sirens of numerous smaller vessels that happened to be in this part of Boka at the time.

The dock, which has a lifting capacity of 10.000 tons, was brought to Bijela during the day and positioned next to the already prepared pylons - it will determine the position where it will work in the future in the water area of ​​the shipyard port whose concessionaire is Adriatic 42.

The Adriatic 42 company was founded by a consortium consisting of Adriatic Marinas - Porto Montenegro from Tivat and the renowned shipbuilding conglomerate DryDocks World from Dubai. The floating dock that the company acquired in Turksja is the key capacity of their new service center for mega and superyachts that Adriatic 42 is developing at the location of the former Adriatic shipyard in Bijela.

According to its dimensions and technical characteristics, this dock can accommodate the largest yachts in the world at the moment, such as the world's largest yacht in terms of length, the 180-meter long "Azzam", or the 156-meter "Dilbar", which with its 15.917 gross tons, leads the volume among the world's leading superyachts.

According to the president of the Board of Directors of Adriatic 42, Rad Antolović, the arrival of the floating dock is much more than an ordinary event, both for Boka Kotorska and for the whole of Montenegro.

"It is about a facility that will certainly change the position of Montenegro on the world yachting map. It is a new generation dock worth several million dollars, 180 meters long, 37 meters wide with a capacity of 10.000 tons, which allows it to accommodate the world's largest yachts. In addition to the pier and various other investments, we also acquired a new 720-ton travel lift, the largest of its kind in the region. So far, we have invested 40 million euros in the service center project in Bijela, in order to fulfill our main goal - to lay the foundations for the revival of the shipbuilding and overhaul industry, but now in a completely new, more modern and sustainable way," said Antolović, saying that " the long-term commitment of the shareholders of Adriatic 42 and the management, to start the work of the first phase of the unique Mega Yacht Repair & Maintenance facility, before the end of this year."

He expressed his gratitude for the support given to the implementation of this project by the President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović and Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, pointing out that they "recognized the importance of the project, which represents a major turning point in the servicing and overhaul of yachts and which will complete the complete offer to yacht owners." ".

The executive director of the Adriatic 42 company, Paul John Gray, stated that starting a project of this size implies the engagement of numerous experts, both from Montenegro and abroad.

"At the moment, over 20 people from Montenegro are employed on the project, and that number will constantly grow. Our goal is that many local experts from various fields get their chance and give their expert contribution. We know what kind of tradition the former Shipyard in Bijela had, and we want to use all the professional potential and jointly transform this place and return it to its former glory. Also, we have already established cooperation with numerous local contractors, who will be part of this great story for Montenegro," said Gray.

The Adriatic 42 company said that special attention will be paid to environmental protection, because new and more modern equipment will enable a more energy-efficient way of doing business and smart use of alternative energy sources, in accordance with the highest ecological and safety standards for preventing environmental pollution.
