In the Pljevlja village of Kosanica yesterday around 17.30:XNUMX p.m., an old house owned by the Pljevljak ML burned down, most likely due to a lightning strike.

The commander of the Protection and Rescue Service of the Municipality of Pljevlja, Goran Čavić, told the News that the house was made of steel construction and that the fire, when the firefighters arrived in the village, which is about twenty kilometers from Pljevlja, was in an advanced stage.

"We couldn't do anything on the building itself, but we were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the surroundings," Čavić said.

He said that a few minutes before the fire was reported in Kosanica, a fire was reported in a barn in the village of Crljenice, also due to a lightning strike.

"They had two reports of a fire caused by a lightning strike. The first report related to the village of Crljenice, where lightning set fire to a barn, and the second to the village of Kosanica, where it was a house fire. Since our team was already on its way to Crljenica, we judged that this application in Kosanica was a higher priority, so we redirected them to Kosanica, and another team went to Crljenica. Arriving in Crljenice, we determined that the locals and neighbors had already extinguished the fire, so there was no need for our intervention. As for the fire in the house next to the village of Kosanica, it is a village about twenty kilometers from the city and it was a pre-fab house of port construction, so the fire was in a fully developed stage. "We couldn't do anything on the building itself, but we prevented the fire from spreading to the surroundings," Čavić said.

He said that firefighters must be prepared for such situations that occur during the summer months.

"Practically simultaneously in a few minutes we have two lightning strikes and two buildings on fire. We have to be ready for situations like this and we reacted as best we could at that moment," said Čavić.
