Jovanović for "Vijesti": I will not allow influence on the prosecutors, regardless of the addresses from which the attempts come

Acting (acting) Supreme State Prosecutor (VDT) Maja Jovanović told "Vijesta" that she will not allow any influence on state prosecutors, regardless of the addresses from which such influence attempts come.

She said this when asked to comment on the pressures on the prosecutor's office that have become more frequent in recent days - announcements by winegrowers, politicians, parties, statesmen, religious officials... but also their "adornment" of the prosecution's results.

"As the president of the Prosecutor's Council, I remind you that we recently called on high-ranking public officials and politicians to refrain from public statements that have the connotation of calling state prosecutors to make or not make a certain decision within their powers, as well as not to attribute the results of state prosecutors as their own merits , because in that way they indirectly undermine the integrity of state prosecutors and the State Prosecutor's Office," she said.

Jovanović notes that at the same time they encouraged the state prosecutors to legally and effectively, regardless of the different attitudes, opinions and messages presented to the public, continue to improve the results in the prosecution of criminals, especially in the field of corruption and organized crime.

"I am doing the same this time, with a clear message that as acting VDT, I will not allow any influence on state prosecutors, regardless of the addresses from which such attempts to influence come. I call on all those who provide declarative support to the State Prosecutor's Office to make that support concrete. through the necessary improvement of the conditions in which state prosecutors work," said Jovanović.

Commenting for "Vijesti" on the latest actions of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT), Jovanović said that it was from the Chief Special Prosecutor (GST) Vladimir Novović, whom she reiterated that he is "a professional who is recognized in his work solely for the results of his work", and expected concrete results when she proposed it to the Prosecutor's Council for GST.

She pointed out that she made a clear request to him and all other prosecutors - that she expects concrete results from them in the future as well, and she called on all those who have been "giving them declarative support" in recent days to make it concrete through the necessary improvement of the conditions in which state prosecutors work.

"We have witnessed that these results in the previous period are not missing, which confirms the justification of my proposal and the support of the members of the Prosecutor's Council that Mr. Novović be elected to the position of chief special prosecutor. To be specific - I fully support the work of the chief special prosecutor and of course I am satisfied with the work so far results. A clear request was made before the chief special prosecutor and all other state prosecutors that I expect concrete results from them in the future as well. We will strive for the state prosecutor's organization to be recognized exclusively for the results of its work in the coming period," Jovanović told "Vijesta".

She also pointed out that she is absolutely satisfied with the work of special prosecutor Zoran Vučinić, who with his team, in less than three months, finished the case that was re-established in May, in which the National Security Agency official Petar Lazović was arrested.

"I believe that the results of dedicated work around the clock must be praised and I am using the opportunity to do just that. At the same time, I use the opportunity to point out that state prosecutors in all state prosecution offices work dedicatedly every day, but that their work is often not noticed by the public, which is why by highlighting their work, we will try to contribute to improving the perception of the State Prosecutor's Office," she said. she.
