In the next three years, eighty percent of the city area in Pljevlja will be covered with underground containers for municipal waste disposal.
This was announced after the meeting between the President of the Municipality of Pljevlja Rajko Kovačević and the director of the utility company "Čistoća" Saša Ječmenica with representatives of the Finnish company "Molok".
"We made plans, made appropriate decisions and allocated funds. Our goal is to further improve the ecology in accordance with our motto 'Clean Pljevlja'", said Kovačević during a tour of the locations where the underground containers were installed.
The director of "Čistoće" said that Pljevlja is recognized as a city with a high level of cleanliness and that the municipal utility company installed underground containers in 12 densely populated locations this year, covering 17 percent of its users with this method of municipal waste collection.
"This system is more advanced in several aspects: it significantly reduces the costs of the utility company for these tasks, the container takes up significantly less space than classic containers, and its capacity is five times greater, there is no spread of unpleasant odors, nor scattering of municipal waste due to wind and other influences." , Ječmenica said.
The representatives of the Finnish company were informed that in accordance with the law, a public tender will be announced for the procurement of new modern underground containers.
The representative of "Molok" Damir Budanec expressed his interest in equipping Pljevlje with new underground waste containers, saying that Montenegro is one of the 40 countries where their systems are used, and that in our country, in addition to Pljevlje, Podgorica, Herceg have also been equipped with underground waste containers. Novi, Budva, Bijelo Polje, Ulcinj Bar and Kotor.
The local utility company pointed out that they have carried out the tasks of informing citizens about the method of waste disposal in the settlements where they are installed, the mandatory disposal of embers and ashes in special containers that will accompany the installed containers. Also, they informed the guests and the president of the municipality that after the citizens of the settlements "Iza pošta", Varoš, Centra and Kupusište, a new municipal waste disposal system will be established in Gagovića Imanj, Jalija, Moćevac and Omladinska and Voj Đenisijevića streets and Zlodol.
In 2021, Pljeval's "Čistoća" acquired specialized vehicles for emptying semi-underground containers, which have been operational for several months in these jobs.
