Theater director Boris Liješević sent his support to educators, employees of five educational institutions in Budva, who are on strike in front of the Budva Municipality building, demanding that tenants be allowed to move into buildings in the Dubovica neighborhood and that the price of a square meter apartment be 650 euros.
"Teachers, teachers and professors are sitting on the ground in front of the municipality in Budva, begging for a roof over their heads? Can a city and a country fall lower than that? What did we allow, that those who welcomed us in elementary school as children, then in high school as teenagers, they taught us, helped us find and build ourselves, advised, supported, evaluated, those from whose hands and with whose lessons we went to university, are now on hunger strike?", said Liješević in a statement delivered to "Vijesti" .
He added that the situation seems like the end of morality.
"Budvani, will it be unpleasant in the fall, when you hand over the children to them. How will you look them in the eyes? Or when we are with them at graduation celebrations? And we didn't help them when it was necessary. We despised them. Ignored them. How much responsibility we ask of them and they carry it with joy. Every young person who goes to university from that institution is proof of their hard work and love. There is a lot of evidence. There are many people from Budva in the region and Europe who achieve success. There are many parents in Budva proud of their children's achievements. Many of these parents today turn their backs on the teachers who guide their children during the 12 most sensitive years," said Liješević.
He said that in these areas, education has not been cultivated for a long time, but oblivion.
"Nevertheless, let's not forget that by turning our backs on the teachers, we are turning our backs on our children. In that meadow, our parents, other parents, were abandoned, humiliated, hurt. And we close our eyes. In any normal society, the whole town would gather and support them, because each normal society is grateful to be enlightened. Where are we? "Excuse me professors, it's the season." Where are you, local and republican politicians, deputies, councilors, ministers, presidents? In the assemblies, you make decisions that you should be ashamed of now, you are ashamed of every morsel which you swallow, while the professors are starving and spending nights in tents. Do you hear the red alarm? What are you waiting for? For one of them to starve to death? Or to mock them if they realize that the step they have decided on is too difficult and give up? Don't be tempted them, don't let them fight with hunger, the hunger strike is not to starve, but to react. Let's react. Let's help, stand behind them, support them. Let's show gratitude and respect to teachers and educators. Let's protect them because through them we protect their children," Liješević said.
