In Montenegro, the presence of the Centaur subvariant omicron virus has not been proven in any sample so far.

The Institute for Public Health of Montenegro said that the laboratories of the Molecular Diagnostics Department of the Center for Medical Microbiology, with the support of the ECDC program, are regularly sequencing the genome of the coronavirus.

"In Montenegro, since June 11.06.2022, 5.1, the dominant presence of the BA. 2 Omicron variant has been detected, while the BA.2 Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-75 appears sporadically. The presence of BA.XNUMX (Centaur) has not been proven in any sample so far. under the varieties of Omicron," the statement said.

The Institute continues to monitor the situation regarding the emergence of new strains of coronavirus in Montenegro and will report to the public in accordance with the received data.

From that health institution, they appealed to citizens to respect the valid anti-epidemic measures and to get vaccinated against Kovid-19, especially people at increased risk of developing severe clinical forms of the disease (people with comorbidities, chronic diseases and immunodeficiency).
