"Dreamer" first ran aground near Režević, then sank at the mooring near the island of Sveti Nikola

The Maritime Operations Center of the Maritime Safety and Port Management Administration of Montenegro (USPUL) was informed this morning at around 9.40:XNUMX a.m. by the Budva Border Police Sector that the sailboat "Dreamer", flying the Montenegrin flag, touched the bottom and that it had sunk halfway to the mooring near the island of Sveti Nicholas.

UPSUL immediately sent a SAR-5 rescue boat to the scene, which preventively brought absorbent dams to limit the spread of a possible spill of oil and oil from the half-submerged sailboat into the sea. Upon arriving at the scene, the crew of the SAR-5 boat found that a minimal amount of engine oil was present in the interior of the sailboat.

"The Maritime Navigation Safety Inspection was immediately notified, and the well-known owner engaged privately to retrieve the sailboat with the balloons, which is still in progress" - Assistant Director of UPSUL for Search and Rescue at Sea, Žarko Lukšić, told "Vijesta".

The home port of the "Dreamer" sailboat, by the way, is in the Bar marina. UPSUL has information that the sailboat ran aground yesterday afternoon near Režević and with the private engagement of the owner, it was towed away and subsequently towed to the island of Sveti Nikola near Budva, where it was tied to the pier of the local service marina.

"None of the crew members and passengers from the sailboat were in danger at the time, so UPSUL was not engaged during the recovery and towing of the 'Dreamer'. The Port Authority of Bar and the Maritime Safety Inspection of Bar were informed about everything in a timely manner. The pollution of the sea was not noticed at that moment" - said Lukšić, adding that the "Dreamer" nevertheless, a few hours later, sank at the mooring on Sveti Nikola, which leads to the conclusion that the hull of the ship in yesterday's stranding still suffered damage through which the sailboat gradually took in water and lost buoyancy.
