The mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković, today visited the Protection and Rescue Service of the Capital City with his colleagues and pointed out that, in the previous four years, more than one million euros had been invested in the modernization of the service's equipment, which, he said, makes it perhaps the most equipped service. in the region.
"We are visiting the Protection and Rescue Service of the Capital City, a service that represents the true pride of the Capital City and certainly the best service of this type, not only in Montenegro, but I would say in wider areas. Respecting the importance of these great people working to protect the property and lives of the capital's residents, we as the city administration continuously strive to make this difficult job easier for them. This primarily refers to the need to provide new equipment. For the past four years, the capital has allocated over one million euros for these purposes, and today we can state that we have the most modern equipped service, possibly in this part of Europe," said Vuković, as reported by the PG Bureau.
He pointed out that as part of the last implemented project, a specialized vehicle was acquired that will help when operating in those parts of the city where the streets are narrower, such as Stara Varoš and Durrës, where larger trucks could not approach.
"What is of particular importance is the acquisition of personal protective equipment, so that firefighters are above all safe when they perform their daily tasks, and the most modern equipment that can currently be found on the market is provided," the statement added.
Commander Goran Janković pointed out that these investments in equipment will significantly improve the operation of the Protection and Rescue Service in crisis situations.
"The protection and rescue service of the Capital City can be completely satisfied with today. What is really a matter of pride is that we procured for the first time complete personal protective equipment, of the most modern performance, and we can freely say that we are the first service to purchase this equipment in Southeast Europe. In addition to this protective equipment, we will be able to use the vehicle for technical interventions, for traffic accidents, so that we will greatly strengthen our capacities, primarily from the aspect of protecting and rescuing our citizens, and then also from the aspect of faster interventions by our members. What I also want to emphasize is that the command room we equipped is one of the first projects of this type in Montenegro. That center will serve for management in crisis situations on the territory of the capital, and can be used in case of need for the entire territory of Montenegro," Janković said.
He added that he was particularly proud that, thanks to these investments, protection equipment was provided for members, as well as the purchase of vehicles and specialist equipment.
A member of the Protection and Rescue Service, Savo Ćetković, thanked the Capital City for the continuous investment in the modernization of equipment, which greatly facilitates the work of members of that service, the statement concludes.
