Prime Minister in technical mandate Dritan Abazović announced the construction of a new hospital in Pljevlja, hinting that the work could be started during the summer of next year.
"Pljevlja definitely needs a new hospital. This municipality had a long-standing negative attitude of the central authorities. By the summer, all procedures can be completed and a tender can be announced for the selection of contractors and the start of construction of the new hospital. In the meantime, we will agree with the director that some priority matters will be supported by the Ministry of Health and the Government in order to facilitate their work in this interim period. We want Pljevlja to live, not to be empty," said Abazović.
He thanked the health workers in Pljevlje for the sacrifices they make in providing services to the citizens of Pljevlje despite the obvious lack of staff.
The Minister of Health, Dragoslav Šćekić, said that if there had been no cyber attack, a tender for the conceptual design of the new Pljeval hospital would have already been announced, but he still hopes that this part of the work will be completed by the end of the year.
Šćekić reminded that the Government gave the land for use so that the Health Cooperative in cooperation with the municipality could begin the construction of a building for Pljeval health workers.
"The devices that are necessary for the Pljeval hospital will be acquired in the coming period. I am sure that they will have the necessary devices in the next month or two," Šćekić said.
The director of the Pljevlja hospital, Saša Grbović, said that the new hospital in Pljevlja is necessary in order to provide better quality health care.
"We also hope for support for the construction of a housing building for healthcare workers, because it will be a great achievement for their stay in Pljevlja. Over half a million euros were invested in the Pljeval hospital in the previous year and a half. A new scanner, a new X-ray machine was acquired, central oxygen was performed, and there were also donations," Grbović said.
Šćekić: We get the necessary medicines for oncology patients
Speaking about the lack of medicine for oncology patients, the Minister of Health said that it happened because of a stoppage in the supply of wholesalers.
He said that this problem was solved and that this morning they received the necessary medicines for oncology patients.
"Unfortunately, the previous Government had no sense and I can freely say that it led to the decimation of the Health Fund and the general endangerment of the health system through a populist story, which I regret that it went in that direction and that this populist story is breaking on health care. What happened - the previous government made a decision of 43 million euros for the procurement of medicines, and of those 43 million euros, the Ministry of Finance, led by Mr. Spajić, did not pay a single cent during that period. Ever since that moment, these three months, we have been doing financial gymnastics so that the health system does not collapse. This was also reflected in the procurement of oncology therapy. We managed to fix it and this morning we managed to provide therapy and citizens should know that therapy will be available to all of them. I am sorry that it was done that way in the previous period, and we will not allow our patients to suffer that. We are waiting for the rebalancing of the budget, where an additional 30 million euros will be allocated for healthcare, and in the session on Thursday, seven million euros will be allocated from the budget reserve, which will be paid directly to wholesalers for the purchase of oncology drugs, and in this way we will overcome the problem. I want the citizens to be understanding because we cannot solve all the problems that have been accumulating for ten years or more in three months, but we certainly will not allow the health of our citizens to be endangered," Šćekić said.
The solution for Vektra Jakić is not close, they are developing models
When asked by a journalist whether the Government can help the former workers of Vektra Jakić, who protested several times because the owner of the company Dragan Brković owes them wages for several months, Abazović said that there are several models they are considering for solving the problems of Vektra Jakić.
Production at Vektra Jakić was stopped at the end of 2018.
"I believe that a solution will be found. I cannot make any promises at this moment, and the question of Vektra Jakić remains burning. The solution is not close. but some models are being developed. Everything that happened around that company is only a reflection of how the authorities treated the assets of Montenegro. I'm sorry about that and I think the workers are aware of it. We have to use the potential of the municipality of Pljevlja in a way that suits the citizens of Pljevlja, not just individuals," said Abazović.
