"Vijesti" was the beacon of journalism that shone in troubled times when being a journalist was very difficult, and it was even more difficult to be professional, independent and critical of all the bad characteristics of the social and political system at that time, said Prime Minister in technical mandate Dritan Abazović .
He congratulated the independent daily "Vijesti" for 25 years of existence, with the assessment that it is respectable that "Vijesti" has not deviated from such a journalistic path until today.
As he said, all the threats, attempts at intimidation, bomb attacks, injuries, beatings did not manage to tear this media from the direction of exposing the violation of public interest.
"It is the history of a time that I hope has passed in Montenegro. All the hardships that "Vijesti" went through are a kind of medal of courage and perseverance".
He also pointed out that "Vijesti" gave a seal to Montenegrin journalism of one hundred and fifty years.
"Today, the media is under attack by the powerful who try to discourage and silence free and critical thought through economic exhaustion, discrimination and brutal propaganda. The media scene in Montenegro faces numerous challenges, from the unsatisfactory socio-economic conditions in which most journalists live, through non-transparency of institutions, to censorship and self-censorship. We must be aware that without a free press and professional journalists, there is no responsible government, and no defense of the public interest. You will recognize a politician who truly cares about the interests of the state by his ability to accept criticism of his work without retaliation." Abazović announced.
"I want Vijesti to continue its mission. Professional, independent - to the truth and justice," concluded the Prime Minister.
