Media Center Director Goran Đurović said that when the executive secretary of the Media Council for Self-Regulation, Ranko Vujović, "respects the 'dangerous manipulations' of the Media Center," that it means that "the end of the world and life as we knew it is approaching."
Đurović reacted to the statements of Vujović who, among other things, stated that "the Media Center is putting pressure on the Government of Montenegro for the second time in the last fifteen days and calling on it to adopt these unfinished legal texts and put them up for public discussion."
"Ranko Vujović criticizes the Media Center for calling on the Government and the competent ministry to finally put the media laws up for public discussion after 8 months of work. The key objection to the Media Center is the desire to speed up the process and that the considerable effort of the majority of the members of the working group and representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Media Vujović is looking for a stronghold for criticism and 'dangerous manipulation' of the Media Center in the missed working group meeting where the final versions of the three media laws were supposed to be presented, although all members of the working group know that it is difficult to change the versions at that last meeting which the Ministry prepares for a public debate. The Ministry should certainly organize a meeting and present to the working group the solutions it considers good, and during the public debate everyone, including Ranko Vujović and the Media Center, will have the opportunity to give their comments and suggestions that they have communicated again and during participation in the working group," said Đurović.
He adds that "nothing can be hidden from the eyes of the public because the Media Center is asking for a public discussion".
"Ranko Vujović did not ask for anything, let alone the final meetings, while Željko Rutović and DPS prepared the laws and he was a standard desirable member of the working groups in the previous 20 years. And this is actually the essential reason for Ranko Vujović's reaction, the desire that the Media Center and the director accused of working for the interests of the 'media and political center to which they belong' with their proposals regarding legal solutions".
In response, Đurović stated that since its foundation in April 2018, the Media Center has been proposing and advocating for the same legal solutions in media laws.
"Which points to the conclusion that even during the time of the DPS and the majority constituted after the dismissal of the DPS, we are consistent in our proposals for creating an incentive system for improving public information, developing the media on a fair market, professionalizing public broadcasters, reducing hate speech... Media Center for the legal solution that was handed over has the support of other non-governmental organizations as well".
Đurović also states that the Ministry will assess whether some solutions are senseless and illegal, as stated by Vujović.
"We are pleased that most of our proposals regarding media laws were accepted in previous years, while at the same time there were no written proposals from prominent media worker Ranko Vujović. Ranko Vujović's role in all working groups is to disrupt the 'game' and oppose those who propose more advanced solutions from those with which the DPS was satisfied while holding captive all institutions in the state, including those that deal with the media or are public media. It would be good if Ranko Vujovic gathers some courage and clearly states which are the media and political centers that control Media center. We encourage Ranko Vujović to shake off his fear, as some from his vilayet did after August 30, 2020, and be direct. Unlike Vujović, I will be direct. Ranko Vujović is an ordinary official of the DPS , who presents himself as a media (collaborator) and who in 4 mandates was the president of the Council of the Agency for Electronic Media (AEM) directly supported by DPS. During that period, Pink M television illegally obtained a frequency in Montenegro, worked illegally for years because it did not produce a minimum of its own program in accordance with the law, spread hate speech through the famous propaganda show "Minut-dva", where for years all critics and those who were not controlled by DPS from opposition parties, NGOs and media were satirized".
In response, Đurović states that it will be remembered that in the period 2015-2018, Pink M television was "pronounced 39 warning measures by AEM, whose council president was Ranko Vujović, but that this television was never "blacked out" in accordance with the law because that was not the interest of DPS".
"Ranko Vujović was at the head of the AEM Council when the media were illegally allowed not to pay annual broadcasting fees, so several hundred thousand euros remained unpaid claims, which damaged the AEM budget and destroyed the electronic media market. In the previous three AEM lost 215.541,86 euros due to illegal work tolerated by the Council headed by Vujović. Finally, Ranko Vujović is an authentic representative of DPS interests in all working groups where media policies are created. All bad legal solutions that led to this state of affairs on the media scene was supported by Ranko Vujović. He was an accomplice in the creation of shameful, criminal solutions by which DPS tried to take control of all media, especially RTCG. Unlike Ranko Vujović, the founders of the Media Center fought for years for the removal of inappropriate party influence on the work of public broadcasters and AEM. I believe that I made at least a small contribution as a former member of the RTCG Council to free at least one institution from the influence of parties in power and the opposition in the middle of the captive state of DPS. Although for 17 months the RTCG led by Andrijan Kadija and Vladan Mićunović was free, which greatly angered the then government and part of the opposition. Then Ranko Vujović and the entire DPS media staff remained silent. It's better that Ranko didn't speak now," Đurović concluded
