Several parties condemned the threats addressed to the main and responsible editor of the M portal Danica Nikolić. On Saturday, several emails with threatening content were sent to the email address of the main and responsible editor of that portal.
BS: The state should show determination in the direction of protecting journalists
The Bosniak Party said that without media freedom and free expression, there is no democracy in society. It is the duty of the media, as they said, to report on topics that are of public interest.
"The Bosniak party condemns the threats addressed to the editor of the M portal. Disagreement with the editorial policy or with the expressed views of journalists cannot be an excuse for threats to anyone. It is the obligation of the people to show strong determination in the direction of protecting journalists," BS announced.
LP: Threats unacceptable, send a clear message
The LP points out that death threats to journalists because of publicly expressed words are an unacceptable phenomenon in a democratic and European country. They said that we expect an immediate reaction from the authorities, in order to protect the life of the journalist and her colleagues.
"A clear message must be sent that such phenomena are unacceptable, from the leaders of the state, the prime minister, the minister of the interior, the minister in charge of the media and the police administration. We also expect an immediate reaction from the prosecutor's office, which will process this case and show that no one is untouchable and that this country guarantees the right to life," LP announced.
Freedom of the media and protection of life and property of media and journalists must be a priority by which the freedom of a society is measured, concluded from that party.
Nikolic. A direct consequence of targeting
Miloš Nikolić, spokesman and deputy of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), stated on Twitter that the threats addressed to the journalist Nikolić and a number of public figures are a direct consequence of targeting, which, he said, comes from the Prime Minister in a technical mandate and the leader of the Citizens' Movement URA Dritan Abazović and his associates.
Vuksanović Stanković: Women in Montenegro are bulwarks
Member of Parliament of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Draginja Vuksanović Stanković, condemned the "shameful attacks" and threats against the free media and called on the authorities to take action in accordance with their legal powers.
"Interesting how cowards are always encouraged when they need to hit on a woman. But women in Montenegro are bulwarks. Full support", stated Vuksanović Stanković.
Zirojević: The justification of threats is worrying
The spokesperson of the Social Democrats (SD) Nikola Zirojević, in his own name and in the name of that party, strongly condemned the threats directed at Nikolić.
"Unfortunately, this behavior of individuals is the result of constant targeting of certain media by the outgoing prime minister and his associates. Even more worrying is the justification of these threats coming from the GP URA official from Podgorica", Zirojević believes.
He stated that they expect the party to distance itself from, as he stated, the shameful behavior of their official, adding that otherwise, they will understand that this is the party's position.
