The sports summer in Luštica Bay is coming to an end, and one of the grand finals is the Second International Luštica Bay Uphill Race - on Sunday, September 18, from 16 p.m., cyclists and runners will gather in one place, who will compete in both disciplines. The hosts are Luštica Bay and The Chedi Luštica Bay Hotel, and the organizer is Multisport Academy Mayer.
The number of slots in the race is limited, and there will be a total of 20 slots for cycling, 20 slots for running and 20 slots for multisport, i.e. combined cycling and running. In total, there will be 40 bike starts, 40 running starts and 60 athletes in all disciplines. The total length of the track is two kilometers, with a height difference of 180 meters and ascents that reach up to a 25 percent gradient. Races are held in men's and women's categories.
"The Lustica Bay UPHILL race is a unique competition in this part of Europe. Competitors are expected to have exceptional physical fitness, which they will demonstrate in ten minutes, which is the average time it takes to cross this course either running or on a bicycle. Although the track is only 2km long, the constant climb in just a few minutes takes all the competitors' breath away and forces them to pull out the last atoms of their energy in order to successfully cross the finish line. The carnival group "Karampana" is responsible for the atmosphere next to the track, and we got our inspiration from the biggest cycling races like Tour de Franca, La Vuelta and Giro d'Italia", he announced. Igor Majer, race director.
"And this season, the Luštica Bay team successfully organized several exceptional international sports events, in various disciplines that took place at sea and on land, that is, on the fields within our settlement as well as in the waters of Trašte Bay. Thanks to the natural configuration of the terrain on the Luštica Bay peninsula, the course of the upcoming race Lustica Bay Uphill Race is very interesting and challenging, but the competitors at the same time enjoy the scenes of the blue sea of the Adriatic and the dense centuries-old greenery that provide additional inspiration in reaching the goal and overcoming each athlete's own limits," she said. Sonja Banicevic, event supervisor in Luštica Bay.
The upcoming race brings great excitement and serious efforts for the competitors, and the winners will be announced in the following categories: TOP 3 in the men's and women's categories in cycling, the three best competitors in the men's and women's categories in running, as well as the three best competitors in the multisport discipline, also in men's and women's categories. Special recognition awaits the fastest competitor and the fastest female competitor in total time in cycling and running, who become the King and Queen of the Hill. Medals and trophies will be awarded to the winners.
The start of the race is in front of The Chedi Luštica Bay hotel, on Sunday, September 18 at 16 p.m. According to the race regulations, the start is timed, every 60 seconds, with a break between disciplines of 60 minutes. For competitors competing in both disciplines, running and cycling, the break is a minimum of 90 minutes.
