The Municipality of Nikšić and the Diocese of Budimljansko-Nikšić donated an electrosurgical radiofrequency knife, worth about 5.000 euros, to the gynecology-obstetrics department of the Nikšić General Hospital.
Dušanka Milatović, the acting director of the Nikšić General Hospital, thanked for the donation and pointed out that it is a device that is very important for the treatment of female patients.
She called on the women of Nikšić to get screened on time, because a timely examination and intervention by a doctor can ensure a high-quality and successful life "with as few diseases as possible, that is, as few uterine cancers as possible".
The head of gynecology, Milan Knežević, said that it is an electro-surgical knife that is used for "sparing interventions on the cervix that require minimal destruction of the surrounding tissue".
"This intervention is used when we have an unsatisfactory result of skinning of the cervix, which is manifested by an unsatisfactory result of a pap test and an unsatisfactory result of a colposcopy examination. This method can be both diagnostic, to evaluate changes on the cervix, and therapeutic, i.e. those changes that are verified are removed on this occasion," explained Knežević.
According to him, the complications that can occur as a result of this intervention are very rare, and the intervention offers the possibility that "young women who are operated on in this way can later give birth to their offspring naturally."
The head of surgery, Dejan Bajović, said that "it means a lot to them that they have someone to turn to, whose door to knock on for help, advice, and they know very well that we will do what is in our power in the best possible way".
The President of the Municipality, Marko Kovačević, said that they try to lead a responsible policy, especially towards the youngest and towards women.
He said that for the first time this year, the Municipality of Nikšić is financing in vitro fertilization from the budget.
"It is really important for us that every new life that can come to Nikšić, comes to Nikšić, so we take care of our women, about those children who have been born and those who are yet to be born, and we fight in every way that they are born. We will try in the coming period to behave responsibly towards our social community, especially towards these categories of the population that I mentioned, because women are truly the pillar of our society, and children are the future," said Kovačević.
The Bishop of Buda-Niššić, Metodije, said that he was glad that the Diocese participated in the procurement of equipment "that will serve to achieve a better and more functional life here in this city, and in this way we will fulfill everything, make everyone happy, rejoice in this not at all easy life and environment".
