At the gala ceremony at the National Press Club in the capital of the United States of America (USA), one of the founders of "Vijesti" Željko Ivanović will receive the award with five other colleagues from the USA and the world, among whom is the Nobel laureate Marija Resa.
Šejla Coronel, dean of the School of Journalism at Kolimbia University, will give a testimonial explaining the awards for Marija Resa and Ivanovic.
Ivanovic will also participate in a large two-day conference organized by TLN (Transatlantic Leadership Network), a well-known political institute from Washington, after the award ceremony.
The conference will be held on Monday and Tuesday in the US Congress building, and over 150 journalists, editors and publishers from all over the world will participate in it.
Ivanovic will speak in the panel "Liberal democracy - editorial independence in Europe".
During his seven-day stay in Washington and New York, Ivanovic will have numerous meetings and meetings with editors and journalists of leading American media, such as the Washington Post and the New York Times. He will also give an interview to the most influential media in the world, the New York Times.
Also, during the visit, meetings are planned with long-term partners of Vijesti, such as USAID, Internews and MDIF. In addition to all that, the President of the Board of Directors of Vijesti will have a series of meetings and discussions with well-known think-thank organizations in these two American cities.
The TLN journalism awards for 2022 were decided by a 20-member international jury in which, in addition to the head of a well-known political institute, there were well-known editors and journalists from the most influential American and European media. In addition to Ivanovic and Resa, awards will also be given to Jennifer Griffin, from Fox News, Olga Rudenko, editor of Kyiv Independent, posthumously Shirin Abu Akleh from Al Jazeera, and Vladislav Davidzon, journalist of Tablet magazine and founder of Odesa Review.
This is another important international recognition for Vijesti and its people.
In 2014, the Director of the Center for Investigative Journalism (CIN-CG), Milka Tadić Mijović, was included in the 100 most courageous journalists and NGO activists from around the world in the selection of Reporters without Borders, while in 2019, investigative journalist Olivera Lakić received the Courage Award, which she USA was presented by the then First Lady Melania Trump.
