The President of the Municipality of Budva, Milo Božović, said that he will launch an initiative to return the old town fortress Citadel to the ownership of the Municipality of Budva.
"I will launch an initiative to start negotiations with the owners of the Citadel about ways to return this medieval fortress to the ownership of the Municipality of Budva," Božović said after touring the fortress with Novi Sad Mayor Miloš Vučević and Nikšić Municipality President Marko Kovačević.

The Citadel passed into private ownership three decades ago, and for more than a decade and a half, not even the programs of the Grad Teatar festival have been held there.
Earlier, the municipal authorities tried to reach an agreement, but it never happened.
"If at first it is not possible for the Municipality to become the owner, we are ready to make some arrangement with the owners of the Citadel to bring back some of the most important cultural events, above all the "City Theater" program. This is significant for the Municipality of Budva, because the Citadel is something that is important Budvani", said Božović.
He reminded that the Municipality launched an initiative and sent a letter of intent to the Public Enterprise for the Conservation of Maritime Assets to return the dilapidated building of the Yugoslav River Shipping to the state government.
