The Union of the Police Administration (UP) announced today that it is demanding a higher degree of protection of the life of a police officer, full protection of the state for a police officer when his life and safety are threatened, which, according to them, has not been the case so far.
"Therefore, we call on all state authorities that deal with the issue of safety and protection of citizens' lives, to finally take a decisive step in protecting police officers," the UP press release on the occasion of this morning's event in Podgorica, when bombs were thrown at the house of police officer Mervan Eć, points out.
Fadil Koljenović from Podgorica was killed in an exchange of fire with the police today, and according to "Vijesti" information, he opened fire on the police who were investigating the throwing of an explosive device at the house of their colleague Mervan Eć.
The incident happened in the Konik settlement in Podgorica.

The Union of UP said that, unfortunately, attacks on police officers have become more and more frequent.
"One gets the impression that violence against the police, both verbally and physically, has become our daily routine. What we have already repeated countless times is that the lives of police officers are in serious danger. The life and physical integrity of a police officer is no less important than all other members of this society. Therefore, we strongly condemn the attack on the house of our colleague EM that happened early this morning in Podgorica, in which fortunately no one was injured. This, and the attacks on police officers that happened earlier, represent an attack on the highest value of every human being , life. These and similar attacks have an even greater weight because they are directed directly against police officers, people who defend and protect the lives of all citizens of Montenegro," reads the press release of the UP Trade Union delivered by President Mladen Šuškavčević.
The statement added that this morning's attack shows how difficult, responsible and dangerous police work is.
"We are always on the side of our colleagues and we will support each of them in everything. The Trade Union of the Police Administration has repeatedly warned that in the existing legal regulations, there is not a sufficient degree of protection of the life of a police officer. Disrespect for legal regulations and disrespect for a police officer from by the perpetrators of a certain criminal act. We believe that the time has come for something to change in this matter. For this reason, we are asking for a greater degree of protection of the life of a police officer, full protection of the state for a police officer when his life and safety are threatened, which was not the case until now . Therefore, we call on all state authorities that deal with the issue of safety and protection of citizens' lives, to finally take a decisive step in protecting police officers. We believe that the responsible state authorities have enough sense to find the best solution for this, given that our profession is one of the most difficult in the modern world," said the Union of UP.
