Breast cancer is curable in more than 90 percent of cases, if detected in time.
This was announced by the non-governmental organization "Brini o sebi", which is also organizing this October a breast cancer prevention campaign called "Go for a check-up", which will also provide free examinations for women from socially disadvantaged families.
In the press release of that NGO, it is stated that breast cancer is the most common malignant disease in women worldwide, while preventive examinations are the most effective way to reduce the number of patients, and thus the mortality from breast cancer.
"The campaign is held in partnership with the Institute of Oncology of the Clinical Center of Montenegro. This year, the Vision Event agency, the Hoffmann-La Roche company, Novartis and Glosarij CD also provided support for the implementation of the campaign, while 32 private surgeries throughout Montenegro provided preventive examinations on preferential terms", the organization states.
They point out that the activities of the October campaign are aimed at raising women's awareness of self-care, the importance of preventive examinations through regular check-ups, greater awareness of the disease through education, and all with the aim of reducing the number of sick women and discovering potential changes at an early stage.
"Given the fact that cervical cancer is a common disease among women, the intention of the campaign is to motivate all women to perform regular gynecological examinations. As we have witnessed that for women, especially from socially disadvantaged families, it is a priority to take care of their children and family first, and to put themselves and their health last, the NGO Brini o seba will provide free examinations for women from socially disadvantaged families. This year, our intention is to empower women to take their health into their own hands, not to wait for an illness to occur, as a prerequisite for going for an examination, but to take care of themselves preventively and on time", according to the NGO "Brini o to himself".
They emphasize that the goal is to prevent the development, but also to detect the potential disease at an early stage, through preventive examinations.
"In order to educate about ways to prevent breast cancer with an emphasis on self-care, as in previous years, educational lectures will be organized with experts. The aforementioned will be organized in cooperation with a radiologist, nutritionist and psychologist, for all interested socially responsible companies and firms, whose goal is to inform their employees about the disease itself, which would break prejudices and obtain relevant information," the announcement states. .
