On the occasion of the International Day of the Fight Against Poverty, which is celebrated on October 17, 55 students of the first grade of the primary school from the Roma-Egyptian (RE) community in Nikšić received school supplies, as a form of Help's assistance to the most vulnerable categories of the population. School supplies were given to first graders in the schools "Olga Golović", "Mileva Lajović Lalatović", "Ratko Žarić", "Luka Simonović" and "Milja Nikčević".
Irena Vasiljević, director of the "Mileva Lajović Lalatović" Elementary School, thanked for what she said was a very important donation for their students, as well as for the previous help that "Help" provided for their school in order to improve the position of students from the RE community.
"Without quality education for students from this community, we can hardly change their position, that is, ensure better inclusion in society. I use the opportunity to invite other organizations to join us in our joint fight to improve the position of children from vulnerable groups such as the Roma in Egypt," said Vasiljević.
Marija Martinović, director of Elementary School "Luka Simonović" pointed out that she would like many more children from the RE population to be in their school.
"I believe that we are thereby enriching our educational institution and improving our environment, because we are working to promote different cultures and better inclusion of children from an early age," said Martinović.
In addition to Nikšić, school supplies for students from the RE population were also distributed in Podgorica, and tomorrow schoolchildren in Bijelo Polje will receive them, and then in Pljevlja and Budva. "Help" mediators for the social inclusion of the Roma-Egyptian population are in charge of distributing the kits.
"Help" organized the action thanks to financial assistance through Aktion Deutschland Hilft (ADH), a network of German humanitarian aid agencies for fast and efficient action abroad.
