Being a teacher, professor has always been prestigious, it has always been important, and from the perspective to which we are bound by the optics of the mission and vision of the Faculty of Philosophy - it has been and will be the most solid support for the future of the entire society. A society that carefully selects future teachers, educates them with quality and motivates them for professional growth can be trusted to welcome the future ready, because - as the ancient Greek thought says: If Athens has bad shoemakers, the Athenians will be barefoot; if she has bad tailors, the Athenians will be naked; if she has bad teachers, there will be no Athenians. I am convinced that there will be, I wish us all excellent future educators, teachers, professors, good students who will build their teaching credo of excellence at the Faculty of Philosophy in the coming years, said the vice dean for teaching, prof. Dr. Dijana Vučković, at the ceremony at the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić, on the occasion of marking 75 years of higher education in Montenegro.

She reminded that on October 17, 1947, the Higher Pedagogical School started operating in Cetinje, and that in 1963 the Pedagogical Academy was founded in Nikšić, as a symbiosis of the secondary teacher's school from Nikšić and the Higher Pedagogical School from Cetinje.

"The people of Nikšić still call this building 'Pedagoška', preserving with that name a warm and beautiful memory of the days when Nikšić became a city of students, a city of youth," said the vice-dean of the oldest university unit in Montenegro.

In 1977, the Pedagogical Academy grew into the Faculty of Teachers, and after the Department of Sociology and Philosophy grew from a two-year to a four-year faculty, the Faculty of Teachers grew into the Faculty of Philosophy in 1988. During the introduction of the Bologna Declaration, the Faculty of Philosophy represented a third of the University in terms of the number of students, and the number of basic study programs during the first accreditation was as many as 18. Five new faculties were created from the Faculty of Philosophy (Teaching) - the Academy of Science and Mathematics, the Academy of Music and Fine Arts, the Faculty of sports and physical culture and the Faculty of Philology.

"An institution that has issued so many diplomas and successfully created five studies on the establishment of new faculties has many reasons to be satisfied and – perhaps more importantly – has hope for a secure future. One academic year is a long period in the life of an institution, and when a faculty enumerates 75 of them, we can say that he gained experience worthy of respect", said Vučković.

Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, prof. Dr. Tatjana Novović said that today there are 54 teachers and associates working in that educational institution, as well as 26 non-teaching staff.

"The high-quality teaching staff who teach in nine basic three-year and integrated studies, eight master's and five doctoral programs, are a guarantee of quality studies for more than 1200 students, within the current framework. Year after year, we are recognized by excellent graduates, which especially encourages and motivates us to carefully plan the existing infrastructure, in the form of quality teaching, up-to-date programs, fruitful scientific and research activities, competent teaching staff, but also an increasingly optimal environment for work in the future. and we are continuously revising", said Novović.
