The reconstruction of the Special Hospital (SB) "Vaso Ćuković" in Risno, the value of which is more than two million euros, began today, announced the Minister of Health, Dragoslav Šćekić.
"It is an important moment for us, given that we know what the hospital in Risno means to the health care system of Montenegro," said Šćekić during his visit to the hospital.
According to him, around two million euros will be invested, of which 1,4 million will be invested in the adaptation of the space itself, while the rest will be invested in equipment for the adapted part.
As reported by the PR Center, Šćekić mentioned that 250 thousand euros will be invested in the access road to the hospital and for parking for employees, and the complete works should be completed within the year.
"I am very pleased as a minister that we have a very high-quality management, led by Dr. Popović, who is doing his best to bring the hospital to the level it always deserved in the Montenegrin health system," Šćekić said.
He reminded that the hospital has a special tradition, and the care and attention that employees show towards patients is an example of humanity.

"This proves the desire of the patients to have the necessary interventions done in this hospital. What was disputed is that in the last period the decision-makers did not pay enough attention and that's why we had certain shortcomings in the actual improvement of that hospital", said Šćekić.
Now, he added, they have new management in the hospital and in the health system, who are aware of the importance of the hospital in Risno.
"We perceive the hospital in Risno as our special brand of the health system, and we think that it should not only provide services for patients in Montenegro, but on a wider level, because it can perform interventions on a par with well-known centers in Europe and the world," Ščekić said.
He congratulated the hospital in Risno, the director of the hospital, Dr. Popović, and all its employees.
"I also congratulate those who come to the hospital, regardless of how they feel, in a religious or any other sense, because this is a hospital for each of our patients and there is no difference here," Ščekić concluded.
SB Director Vlado Popović said that the line minister together with his associates "has been on the path of continuing Vasa Ćuković's humanitarian mission" since the very beginning.
"We all want to invest in this institution and create conditions for good work and quality care for all patients," Popović pointed out.
He said that he hopes that the project he started will be carried out properly and that the next visit will be in a completely different environment.
"This is just the beginning of creating a final picture that we should finish by 2025, when we celebrate the big jubilee of 80 years of orthopedics in Risno," announced Popović.
Asked how the hospital will function while the works are ongoing, he explained that intensive meetings with engineers are underway.
"According to the project, the works are planned to last 365 days, and certainly that is the time during which the hospital must function, and we have already made a plan so that the complete ambulatory and emergency reception block will be moved to the hospital's ward," said Popović.
He noted that there will certainly come a shorter period of time when he will be without X-rays and scanners, but that he will have help from Kotor and neighboring hospitals.
"What we all need is patience in order to bring this project to a successful end," concluded Popović.
