The Acting Director of the State Archives, Danilo Mrvaljević, said that after an extensive analysis, regarding the acquisition of archive materials of the Government of Montenegro in the period September-October 2020, they came to the conclusion that there are serious indications of irregularities and illegalities in this process, and even partly also to the missing material.
The prime minister in that period was Duško Marković.
He spoke after Prime Minister Dritan Abazović's statement that 60 binders had disappeared during the transport of government materials to the State Archives.
Mrvaljević stated in the announcement that the sequence of steps that must be taken in a formal sense has been established, in order to apply further procedures in order to shed light on all aspects of this specific matter.
"One of these steps was the request that I sent to the General Secretariat of the Government on September 29, 2022, for the submission of complete documentation on the procedure for taking over material from 2020, which is in their possession. The request was duly answered on October 13 2022, after which I continued further and launched the corresponding initiatives on October 14. What are the facts at this moment is that the entire process was carried out in a hurry, immediately after the parliamentary elections in 2020, that it is a very extensive construction, that is a problematic way of taking it over, that there are certain discrepancies in the number of archive boxes, as well as serious indications of missing materials," said Mrvaljević.
He adds that he will have a complete picture after the procedures he initiated and which are in progress, and after the control and inspection are completed and in the final archival arrangement of the material in question.
"Approaching my work very seriously, without sensationalism, half-hearted approach and arbitrariness, acting responsibly and strictly professionally, I will inform the public about the details of this particular matter, which can have much more harmful and serious consequences than those it already produces, after obtaining a few more very important data, at the press conference that will be scheduled soon," said Mrvaljević.
