The Administration of Maritime Safety and Port Management of Montenegro (UPSUL) and the Navy of the Croatian Republic of Croatia intervened together to eliminate the consequences of the pollution that was observed on the surface of the Tivat Bay in the morning hours.
Namely, citizens and tourists who were sailing on excursion boats in the Boke bay, noticed and reported to the authorities the appearance of a large dirty stain floating on the surface of the sea in the stretch from Pristan on the northwestern coast of the Luštica peninsula, east towards Tivat and Solili.
The stain of dirty black color presented an extremely ugly picture because, due to the very nice weather for this time of the year, there was complete bonfire in the bay, so there were no waves or wind that would have otherwise broken the stain by themselves.
Upon the citizen's report, the duty team of UPSUL and the Croatian Navy, which is based at Pristan, immediately intervened, from where the special ship EKO-1 set sail for interventions in case of sea pollution.
It has been established that it is not pollution from the spilling of oil or oily liquids into the sea, but rather dirty foam, most likely caused by the spilling of unprocessed sewage from one of the coastal sewage collectors.
The crew of the vessel EKO-1, after an almost two-hour intervention, remedied this pollution by using floating dams, astrobenes and absorbents.
