The Health Union of Montenegro announced today that it expresses its strong support for the efforts to resolve the status of the Meljina hospital, which, as they say, is indelibly woven into the fabric of Montenegro with more than 150 years of existence and is of vital importance to the residents of Boka.
"We do not accept the thesis that the legal framework of the legislation of the European Union and our national legislation to that extent favors private capital in relation to the necessity of returning this important national asset to the citizens of Montenegro. We invite the Atlas Group to inform the public about the actual amount of funds with which they bought Meljine and which have invested in this hospital in order to reach a fair agreement in the direction of possible compensation and the return of the hospital to the ownership of the state," states the statement of the Health Trade Union, which was submitted by the Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro (USSCG).
They called on the director of the Atlas Group, Duško Knežević, to show patriotism and suggest to his legal representatives to make an effort and to help find a legal model to return the Meljine hospital to where it belongs, in the public health care of Montenegro.
"We provide full support to the colleagues of the Meljina hospital in their fight for the final regulation of their status and the fight to preserve the hospital and the health of the residents of Boka," the statement of the Health Union states.
