The President of the Albanian Alternative and Tuzi Municipality, Nik Đeljošaj, sees himself as a person who feels superior, spared from legal regulations and amnestied in advance from all crimes, the Independent Police Union announced today.
The basic state prosecutor ordered the Podgorica police to remove the footage from the surveillance cameras of the car technical inspection center in front of which, allegedly, Nik Đeljošaj belittled the police officers.
The incident after which the president of the Albanian Alternative and the Municipality of Tuzi was taken to the Podgorica Security Department happened yesterday around 12.10:XNUMX p.m.
"Montenegro looks more and more like Orwell's farm. We are all equal, only some are a little more equal. The direction in which our society is moving clearly tells us that some people are outside the law, untouchable, and that the police have become the culprits on duty. Criminals don't even bother anymore to prove their innocence by the usual means, the first line of defense has already become accusing the police officers of harassing, harassing, torturing, abusing them. None of them even mentions whether or not he committed the crime for which he was prosecuted. the matter fell into the background. Will we as a society allow these abuses or will we all resist our own decline together?", states the statement of the Independent Police Union signed by Igor Rmandić, the president.
The statement adds that yesterday's incident during the actions of the policemen during the control of the vehicle in which the members of the Đeljošaj family were and subsequent events show a complete lack of respect for the police uniform and the state of Montenegro itself, which that uniform represents.
"Former member of the Parliament of Montenegro, president of the political party and president of the Municipality of Tuzi, respectable and respected citizen Mr. Nik Đeljošaj should be an example of behavior and a moral vertical for all of us. Unfortunately, Mr. Đeljošaj sees himself as a person who feels superior, spared legal regulations and amnesty in advance from all crimes. How else to interpret the fact that the law stipulates that vehicles with tinted windows cannot participate in traffic, that thousands of Montenegrin citizens had to take this into account when buying a car, and that this does not apply to Mr. Đeljošaj or some similar "Đeljošaj" that will appear tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. The law regulating this area was passed by the Parliament of Montenegro and it is very possible that Mr. Đeljošaj himself voted for it. It seems that laws and rules are acceptable only when they apply and are applied on other people," said the Independent Police Union.
They said that it is unacceptable for the President of the Municipality of Tuzi to use his political authority and use it to put pressure on police officers, in order not to sway them in the application of legal regulations and their powers.
"Verbal attacks aimed at belittling and humiliating police officers, whose only sin is that they were doing their job, are unacceptable. It is disgusting and extremely inappropriate that Mr. Đeljošaj involves his children in the whole case, trying to divert attention and arouse public sympathy. ", the announcement reads.
The Independent Police Union said that they express their sincerest regret if the children felt any discomfort even for a moment, but they see their introduction and emphasis in this story as pure abuse.
"According to the dangerous construction that Mr. Đeljošaj is trying to make in the future, the police should not stop a single car with children in it, regardless of the severity of the misdemeanor or criminal offense committed by the driver. Do we want to protect future law breakers in such a way and even and serious criminals who are a threat to us all? We must not abuse children to cover up our mistakes. They should be taught that the police officer is protection, safety, refuge in times of need. Children should run towards the police officer and not be afraid and run away from him even when they need help because they learned from their parents that a policeman is something bad and dangerous," said the Independent Police Union.
They said that they would certainly not be deaf and dumb in cases of attacks on police officers, regardless of who the attacks came from.
"Titles, positions and positions do not give anyone the right to act outside the law. We will always stand up for the protection of our colleagues, who professionally and honorably do extremely difficult and dangerous work for a miserable, almost humiliating salary. Insults, belittling, threats are becoming more and more frequent and even physical attacks on police officers. We have witnessed the burning of police officers' vehicles, injuries and even murders. If we know that the police must be the guarantor of the safety of every citizen, the question arises as to how safe that citizen is if some do not hesitate to attack even a police officer on duty," said the Independent Police Union.
They said that in the coming period, they will seriously implement the activities of monitoring events during the actions of police officers, especially events in which police officers were belittled or physically attacked.
"The mentioned events will be analyzed in detail with a special emphasis on the qualification of the crime by the competent prosecutors as well as the judgments of the judges in those cases as the final epilogue of the event. Like everything else that the Independent Police Union does, the results of the analysis will be presented to the public of Montenegro. the procedure determines that the police officers are guilty, they will certainly be sanctioned by the immediate employer as well as by the state, but we ask the question what will happen if Mr. Đeljošaj's responsibility is established? the public?", concludes the announcement of the Independent Police Union.
