Princess Ksenija is one of the figures of Montenegrin history towards whom - Cetinje in particular - expresses sincere respect and touching sentiment and whose patriotism and loyalty to the homeland deserve the respect of generations, said the mayor of Cetinje, Nikola Đurašković, at the ceremony on the occasion of the unveiling of the monument to Princess Ksenija.
As stated in the announcement of the Capital, the unveiling ceremony of the monument to the Montenegrin princess Ksenia Petrović was held today on the plateau in front of the Đukanović house in Njegoševa street in Cetinje.
In the announcement, they state that Đurašković added that the Capital of Cetinje strongly supported this project.
"And with actions, not just words, she showed how much she appreciates the great Dimitrije Popović (the author of the sculpture of Princess Xenia), the creator of the idea of erecting the monument to Vesko Pejović, and the donors of the sculpture," said Đurašković.
He also says that the erection of this monument will permanently symbolize the emancipation of Montenegrin women.
"And so we preserve our history and culture, but we also show respect and appreciation for an exceptional woman who served her homeland Montenegro with her dedication and became one of the symbols of her insubordination," Đurašković concluded.
At the unveiling ceremony of the monument, according to reports from Prijestonica, Marko Špadijer also spoke in front of the Initiative Committee for erecting a monument to Princess Ksenia, while ballerinas from the "Mystique" dance school presented a symbolic performance of the modern life of Princess Ksenia Petrović.
