The Ministry of Science and Technological Development and the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, as two umbrella state institutions in the field of science, marked today's World Science Day by signing an agreement on cooperation.
The relevant minister, Biljana Šćepanović, said that for the development of science in our country, "realistic cooperation" of those institutions is necessary.
"Science expands our understanding of the planet that is our home, and we must respect it so that life on it is not only comfortable, but also possible. Basic or fundamental sciences, as their name suggests, are the basis for all other branches and directions of scientific research, which is reflected in the development and progress in all areas of life - medicine, industry, agriculture, emergency medicine, etc. Without fundamental sciences and a firm support in them, that is, on them, we cannot develop applied sciences," announced Šćepanović.
She said that the ministry and CANU have their own domain, their competences and direction of action, and that the intertwining of these directions, primarily in the field of fundamental sciences, the synergy of all potentials brings positive energy to the scientific research community, contributes to the favorable environment for scientific research work, which all results in social economic progress of Montenegro.
